As we are in full swing of this holiday season, I highly encourage you to consider donating to a few local charities. As a philanthropist myself, there are a few organizations that I hold near and dear to my heart. Here are six organizations I’m involved with this year.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
At St. Jude’s, families will never receive a bill for treatment, housing, travel, or food. Helping their child survive is what they believe should be the only concern on a parent’s mind. Thanks to the generosity of donors, St. Jude has had the opportunity to treat children in all 50 states as well as across the globe. Since they began more than 50 years ago, their research has aided in improving the survival rate of childhood cancer from 20% to 80%. St. Jude offers many ways to give, such as memorials and dedications, planned giving, and also payroll deductions.

Shriners Hospitals for Children
At Shriners Hospitals for Children, they focus on specialty areas of care, such as orthopedics, cleft lip and palate, burn care, and spinal cord injuries. Donations have helped over a million children receive the care they needed and provided hope for a fulfilling life. Just like St. Jude’s, there are many ways you can donate. Some of which are making a gift online or through the mail, making a planned gift, giving through the foundation, or simply volunteer your time.

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP)
The Wounded Warrior Project is an organization that provides services to veterans and service members that receive an injury while protecting our great country. The injuries this non-profit provides services for are not limited to only physical injuries, but they address the needs for those suffering from mental injuries as well, such as PTSD. You can visit their donation page to make a one-time or monthly gift. As a thank you, they will send you a blanket in the mail.

Anti-Defamation League (ADL)
The Anti-Defamation League’s mission is “to stop the defamation of the Jewish people, and to secure justice and fair treatment to all,” as stated on their website. Donations to this organization help advance civil rights and work towards preventing crimes of hate. ADL partners with local law enforcement and educators to teach today’s youth about cyberbullying and bias. You can donate on their page and share your donation on social media platforms using #StandUpAgainstHate.

Catholic Charities
In America, 45 million Americans are living in poverty; Catholic Charities is looking to end that. Donations to this organization allow for immediate assistance to those suffering from poverty. If you’re unable to donate a monetary amount, consider donating your time and volunteering with a local agency.

International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC)
The International Orthodox Christian Charity provides emergency relief to those in need on a worldwide scale. Through Christ’s love, they focus in these six areas: agriculture & food security, emergency response, education, health, water & sanitation, and economic opportunities. There are many ways to give and they make it easier than ever through their website.
