Recently, on November 10, the Annual Gala to raise money for the Hippocratic Cancer Foundation took place in Chicago. Between a combination of ticket sales and an auction of many high-stakes prizes, the Gala succeeded in raising over 3 million dollars to contribute to cancer research!
This luminous event took place Aon Grand Ballroom, at the Navy Pier in Chicago. This is a location that prides itself in its architectural and natural panoramic beauty, exceptional service to its guests and partners, and accessibility to other not-for-profit corporations.
I was one of the hosts, alongside my sister, Eleni Bousi, and her husband Dimitrios, as well as Michael Bousi and his family. It was an excelling and exciting event to host, and I was humbled by the incredible turnout and generous amount of money that had been collected.
This event not only succeeded in collecting a generous amount of money to contribute to the Hippocratic Cancer Research Foundation and contend in the fight against cancer but it also successfully attracted numerous elite Greek-Americans from the HPA community.
During this exciting and philanthropic night, many high-profile items were auctioned off to help raise money. One of these items includes the signed jersey of Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Bucks basketball team, which also includes four court-side tickets to attend a game in Milwaukee! These incredibly generous gifts were acquired by Michael Bousi, the owner of ΠΑΕ ΟΦΗ.
To provide some brief history of the Hippocratic Cancer Research Foundation and its mission, it started in 2015. It initially funded an investigative institution for cancer. From then until now it has produced numerous studies which demonstrate profound research and dedication toward the cause of fighting against cancer. It has continuously been financially supported and driven by the Bousi-Palivos family as well as members of the entire Greek-American community.
Overall, it was tremendous that this Annual Gala was able to take place successfully. It not only collected a large amount of money for a great cause but also united the Greek-American community around a common goal. It is inspiring at the very least, and I look forward to next year’s Gala in the meantime.
